Veteran TV presenter and events host Edwin Katamba, popularly known as MC Kats, has come out to reveal that his ex-partner and baby mama Fille Mutoni knew about his HIV status from the very beginning of their relationship.

It should be recalled that in 2019, MC Kats publicly disclosed his HIV-positive status — a revelation that shocked many Ugandans. In a later interview with Karitas Karisimbi, Fille expressed disappointment, saying it was selfish for Kats to reveal such sensitive information without consulting her, especially since they had been together for many years.

However, Kats has now clarified that Fille was fully aware long before his public announcement. He says that on the very first day they got intimate, he openly asked her what she would do if he infected her.

According to Kats, Fille responded that she did not mind and that they should “leave everything to God.”

“The first time we got intimate, I asked her what she would do if I infected her. She told me she didn’t mind and that we should leave the rest to God,” MC Kats said.

Kats, who was instrumental in shaping Fille’s musical career starting around 2013, said their relationship transitioned from business to romance, eventually blessing them with a daughter, Abbie. Despite the challenges they faced along the way, he says both Fille and their child are living testimonies of God’s protection since neither contracted the virus.

He attributes this to consistently taking his medication:
“I made sure I took my medicine properly — that’s why they survived.”

Kats also shared that his first baby mama passed away when their daughter Brina was only three years old, leaving him to play both father and mother. He added that while people may think he clings to Fille, it is because of what they have been through together — something that makes it impossible for him to hate or distance himself from her.

Although the two have since moved on and are dating different people, Kats says he still holds affection for Fille.
