- Zari Hassan warns against involving children in adult relationship decisions after Chosen Becky’s wedding sparks backlash
- She emphasizes that excitement in love should not override children’s emotional well-being
- Chosen Becky faces criticism and a summons from the Minister for Children’s Affairs
Socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has weighed in on the ongoing public debate surrounding singer Chosen Becky, following a controversial moment during her wedding that has drawn widespread criticism online.

During the ceremony, the Bankuza singer presented her children with placards expressing happiness at gaining a “new father,” Ssekajja, a gesture that many social media users felt was inappropriate and unfair to the children’s biological fathers.
Several critics accused Chosen Becky of unnecessarily involving her children in adult relationship matters. Addressing the issue, Zari—who has previously been involved in public child custody battles—urged parents to exercise caution when introducing children into new relationships.
Zari explained that children often comply with decisions made by their parents, even when they may not fully understand the long-term implications. She warned that such actions, though driven by excitement and love, could later affect the children emotionally.

Drawing from her own experience, Zari referenced her children with the late businessman Ivan Ssemwanga, stressing that their identity and lineage could never be altered despite her later relationship with Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz, who was at one point a stepfather to her sons.
She further cautioned that relationships are not guaranteed to last, noting that public declarations made in moments of happiness can become a source of regret if things fall apart. According to Zari, the internet preserves everything, and children may one day question decisions their parents made on their behalf.
Zari clarified that she was not judging Chosen Becky, acknowledging that she may not know the full details surrounding her relationship with her former partners. However, she maintained that children should be shielded from situations that could strain their relationship with their biological parents.
Chosen Becky has since faced intense criticism, prompting the State Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, to summon her over the matter. While some voices have come to her defense—suggesting past mistreatment may have influenced her actions—the debate continues to divide public opinion.
