• Comedian and radio host Uncle Mark (Agaba Mark) went public with a harrowing story involving his brother’s alleged torture at the hands of SFC soldiers following a Presidential convoy traffic stop.
  • After his account went viral, the Special Forces Command reached out, leading to a formal meeting with the family.

Uncle Mark, whose real name is Agaba Mark, disclosed how security personnel from the SFC contacted him and his family following a statement he shared on social media that went viral. On his X account, Uncle Mark shared that a few months ago, his sister-in-law tragically lost her unborn child.

This incident was triggered by the Presidential convoy passing through the area, which leads to a standard halt in traffic for an extended period. This was the case on that occasion, and Uncle Mark’s brother was among those caught in the stoppage.

Regrettably, he was in a hurry to return home to help his pregnant wife, who had fallen in the bathroom. As he attempted to move his Boda Boda to a nearby police station to find alternative transportation, he was harshly detained by SFC soldiers. This led to him being apprehended, and he reappeared after several days bearing signs of torture and missing toe nails. Tragically, both he and his wife lost their unborn baby.

After sharing this distressing account on X, it garnered attention, prompting numerous netizens to voice their concerns about the President’s motorcade. The following day, the State House’s official X account issued a statement acknowledging that Mark’s complaint had caught the attention of the SFC. They promised to conduct an investigation into the matter and invited the public to provide any information related to this incident or others of a similar nature.

“The Special Forces Command (SFC) is in receipt of Mr Mark Agaba’s statement alleging the high-handedness of some of our officers. The SFC has taken deliberate steps to investigate the matter to establish its full details. Mr. Agaba has been contacted and asked to link us up with the said victim with the view of getting any information that could lead to the apprehension of those who could have committed the alleged crime. The SFC has also, with immediate effect, instituted an internal probe into the matter. We also call upon the general public and any other persons that could help avail further details on the same or any other events. We thank you and pledge to get to the very bottom of this matter,” the official statement read.

Consequently, Uncle Mark and his family were invited to the SFC headquarters in Entebbe. He mentioned that they engaged in a productive three-hour conversation with the President’s official security team. A significant outcome of their discussion was the commitment to assist his brother and sister-in-law in coping with the trauma stemming from this ordeal.

“Honored to have been warmly received at the SFC offices (@MODVA_UPDF) in Entebbe. Moses, his wife, and I had a fruitful 3-hour discussion with the SFC and @StateHouseUg team. We reached a wonderful agreement—one that will support his family in building a brighter future, address his health needs, and bring comfort after the loss of their precious unborn baby. Nange Bankozeeko bantu bange,” he posted.

However, while many people were pleased to see the media figure and his family receive assistance, they raised concerns about those ordinary citizens who lack a platform to voice their grievances or support when faced with similar injustices from law enforcement.

For a long time, the public has expressed dissatisfaction regarding the disruptions caused by President Museveni’s motorcade, which interrupts critical daily activities such as hospital operations, market activities, and traffic flow.

Many have asked if there is a way to ensure the President’s safety while allowing normal traffic to resume when he travels.
