• Recho Rey has taken a bold stance, revealing in a recent interview that she has no plans to get married or have children.
  • She explained that she has never felt maternal instincts and does not see that changing, despite societal expectations.

Ugandan female rapper Recho Rey, whose real name is Mirembe Rachel, has made a surprising revelation about her future intentions regarding marriage and children. In a an interview on Galaxy FM, the Buguda singer was questioned about her marriage plans, to which she firmly replied, “NO.”

Recho Rey expressed that marriage is not something she envisions for herself in the future, and she further surprised many when she mentioned that the idea of having children falls into the same category as her views on marriage.

She explained that she has never felt any maternal instincts within her from a young age, and thus she doesn’t anticipate this will change throughout her life, despite the numerous people who have told her that it might shift with time.

“Honestly, I cannot picture myself ever getting married because it’s not part of my plans. I have absolutely no interest in it. The same goes for inquiries about having children. To be honest, I have never experienced any nurturing instincts since I was a child. I hold those who choose to become parents in high regard, but it’s simply not something that appeals to me. A lot of people have suggested that I’ll eventually outgrow this sentiment, but as I grow older, it becomes even less appealing to me,” she shared.

It appears that a number of female artists have addressed similar questions throughout their careers, much like Recho Rey.

For example, the self-proclaimed ‘Queen Karma’, Sheebah Karungi, often declared that she would never settle down or have children. However, last year, she welcomed a healthy baby boy and now proudly states that it’s the best gift she has ever received in her life.
