Ykee Benda reveals why he chose Emily Nyawira: “She’s not on social media”

Musician Wycliffe Tugume, known as Ykee Benda, has disclosed the unexpected qualities that attracted him to his fiancée, Emily Nyawira. The artist recently proposed to her, and she accepted, paving the way for their upcoming wedding.

The Mpaka Records founder’s future spouse has largely remained in the background, with many people unaware of her existence until he publicly introduced her. Even after he did so, there isn’t much information available about her online, and according to Ykee, this particular aspect captivated him.

Ykee mentioned that despite having attended prestigious institutions like Kampala Parents, Seeta High, and Makerere University where she earned a degree in law, she has no social media presence.

This fact made him realize that she is the right one for him, as it indicated that she doesn’t seek validation through social media.

“One of the most surprising aspects of her that really connected with me is her absence from social media. For someone from a well-off family, who attended top schools and studied law, not being on social platforms made me understand that she’s the right choice for me. I’m the one introducing her to apps like Snapchat. It demonstrated to me that she doesn’t depend on the approval of strangers,” the singer stated.

Ykee also shared that he began dating her approximately four years ago, following his breakup with his former partner Julie Batenga, which he described as a difficult experience.

The struggle for custody of their son Dante had a significant impact on him, leading to a period of depression.
