Opposition political party, National Unity Platform (NUP) has announced a massive fundraising success. This is after they collected over UGX 1 billion in just two days thus showcasing overwhelming support from both their local and international well-wishers.

According to, Hon. Ronald Balimwezo who is the chairperson of the special fundraising committee the cause has been widely supported. He gave the exciting update during the graduation ceremony of the 2nd cohort of the NUP School of Leadership in Kamwokya.
During the first day alone, the campaign raised UGX 135.7 million in cash and UGX 21 million in cheques. In addition, pledges rained in totaling UGX 869.5 million. This pushed the day’s total to UGX 1.026 billion.
On the second day added UGX 21.2 million in cash and UGX 19.7 million through mobile money. This further boosted the political party’s momentum.

Balimwezo who is eyeing the Kampala lord mayor seat expressed deep appreciation to all contributors. He emphasized that the donations came from people of all walks of life — from humble market vendors and boda boda riders to Ugandans in the diaspora.
“Some of our contributors gave as little as UGX 2,000, and others from abroad sent in dollars. This shows that our people are determined to take ownership of their struggle for change,” he said.
These funds are expected to support ongoing party activities, including training, mobilization, and election preparedness.
The party has gone ahead to continue to encourage all supporters to give what they can, reminding the public that change is built on unity and shared sacrifice.
