The former Resident City Commissioner and NRM parliamentary aspirant Hudu Hussein has announced his plans to petition the just-concluded NRM primaries for the Northern Division seat. Hudu cited widespread irregularities and electoral malpractice in this election.

Apparently, the former RCC lost narrowly to his rival Nangoli, who polled 22,166 votes against his 21,575. This was a slim margin of just 591 votes. It’s upon this Hudu Hussein insists that these results do not reflect the true will of the people.
“What we witnessed was a defilement of the very stone upon which our party is anchored—the people,” Hussein said in a strongly worded statement released Thursday on his X page.
According to Hussein, the election was marred by intimidation, violence, forgery as well as multiple voting. He has gone ahead to claim how his voters were denied the right to vote, blocked from polling stations, and also his campaign posters being removed at several locations.

He nonetheless praised the NRM’s internal democratic systems although he expressed concern over what he called “a sham election” in Northern Division. Additionally, he echoed President Museveni’s recent condemnation of flawed primaries.
Furthermore, Hudu assured his supporters that all hope is not lost as he has faith in the NRM electoral tribunal.
“This is merely the first half. By January 15th, we shall be jubilating and celebrating a new dawn for our city,” he added, promising to offer further guidance after the petition process begins.
Meanwhile, he has since called upon his supporters to stay calm and hopeful, as he seeks to overturn the results and “restore the integrity of the party and the choice of the people.”
He’s apparently not the only candidate who has obliterated through this election calling it undemocratic, a sham and embarrassing.
The likes of other politicians such as Hon Theodore Ssekikubo, Kyooma Xavier Akampurira have rejected the results vowing to seek justice. The NRM has started looking through these allegations and some arrests have already been made already.
