John Katumba popularly known as Katumba Oyee one of Uganda’s most memorable and youthful presidential aspirants from the 2021 general elections, has officially unveiled his 2026 presidential campaign manifesto. This has been launched under the banner “Liberation Vote.”

Katumba’s manifesto outlines very bold and ambitious goals that he believes will transform Uganda if he is entrusted with the presidency come next year.

John Katumba captured national attention at just 24 years old when he became the youngest candidate to contest in the 2021 presidential elections.

He became a social media sensation despite not having a strong political party backing or significant funding. Additionally, Katumba became popular for campaigning on foot and speaking with simplicity a thing that earned him popularity on different social media platforms.
Although he did not win the election or poll a significant percentage, his charisma and fearless approach earned him respect among sections of Uganda’s youth and first-time voters although majority saw him as a joker.
Now, with more experience under his belt, Katumba is returning to the political scene once again with what he has described as a liberation agenda for the nation.

Katumba promises to create 10 million jobs as a way of tackling Uganda’s high unemployment rate, especially among the youth. - Tax Reform:
He proposes a 3% tax policy which he claims will make life more affordable for ordinary Ugandans and encourage business growth. - Debt Clearance:
Katumba sets a bold target of clearing UGX 116 trillion in national debt to restore economic stability and independence. - Free Essential Services:
His manifesto pledges to deliver free electricity, free clean water, free internet, free education, and free health care to all Ugandans, emphasizing access and equity. - Governance and Democracy:
Katumba also vows to restore accountable government, reinstate presidential term limits, and strengthen human rights protections. - National Development:
Additionally his vision includes modern infrastructure, public industrialization, and the restoration of national security. This is all aimed to boost productivity and peace. - Cultural Revival:
Furthermore, the aspiring presidential candidate also emphasizes the importance of modern cultural and identity revival, promoting pride in Ugandan heritage.
Katumba is now encouraging his supporters and well-wishers to financially back his campaign through mobile contributions, with merchant codes provided for both MTN and Airtel.
It now however remains to see how many will support the young man in his presidential bid and of he can translate his ideas into support on ground which h is what matters a lot.
