- Hon. Ronald Balimwezo, Nakawa East’s outgoing MP, has declared his intention to run for Kampala Lord Mayor in 2026 under the NUP platform.
- Balimwezo claims unmatched experience in Kampala politics and insists he will easily defeat current Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, whom he says has never encountered him in a political contest.
Nakawa East’s outgoing MP, Hon Ronald Balimwezo, has confidently stated that he is not intimidated by Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago as the 2026 Kampala lord mayoral election approaches. Balimwezo, who will run on the NUP platform, is very assured that he will easily secure the PFF chairmanship.

While speaking to the press, Balimwezo proudly mentioned that he has been involved in Kampala politics long before Lukwago considered joining, asserting that Lukwago has never faced him in an election and thus does not know the challenge he presents.
Balimwezo emphasized that he wouldn’t abandon a smaller constituency like Nakawa to risk losing in a larger one such as Kampala, especially to Lukwago. He expressed his faith in God to help him succeed in this competition.
“Has he ever faced me in an election? This time he will experience my capabilities firsthand, as I will surely defeat him decisively. I have been entrenched in Kampala politics well before him, so I possess all the necessary experience to win,” declared a confident Balimwezo.
