• Mr. Mosh, real name Ssendi Mosh Afrikan, has been nominated by the Electoral Commission as Lord Councillor for Makindye East/Makindye II.
  • NUP dropped him from the parliamentary race but endorsed his return to City Hall, where he has served since 2021.
  • He pledged to support whoever NUP chooses for MP while continuing his vision for a new Uganda through local leadership.

Media personality Ssendi Mosh Afrikan, commonly known as Mr. Mosh, has duly been nominated today to stand as the Lord Councillor for Makindye East/Makindye II by the Electoral Commission. This is a role he currently occupies after securing victory in the 2021 general elections.

Mr. Mosh was nominated by the Electoral Commission as a representative of the National Unity Platform (NUP), which endorsed his candidacy earlier this week. He had previously shown interest in contesting for the membership of Parliament in the same constituency.

With NUP choosing to drop the incumbent MP, Hon Derrick Nyeko, Mosh emerged as one of the favored candidates for the party’s nomination. However, he stated that NUP decided to send him back to City Hall for another term, a decision he felt compelled to respect.

According to the former Galaxy FM Presenter, a number of his constituents have been urging him to forgo his bid for Lord Councillor in favor of pursuing a parliamentary seat, assuring him of substantial support on the ground.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that his motivation lies in his vision for a new Uganda, and to achieve that, he believes he does not need to be an MP. Therefore, he is willing to back whoever the party selects to compete for the parliamentary seat while he continues his work at City Hall.

In a related development, veteran musician and media personality Kiyimba Sam Gombya has been nominated to run as an independent candidate for the position of Workers Councillor in Kampala.

He has held multiple positions at City Hall, including serving as Deputy Mayor in 2016.
