- Kenzo confirmed past doubts about his paternity after conducting a DNA test on Hassan, the man he grew up calling father.
- Despite the revelations, Kenzo says his identity remains rooted in the culture that raised him and the family bonds he values.
Singer Eddy Kenzo has shed light on the astounding revelation from President Museveni that he’s the son of the late NRA guerilla, Brig. Chef Ali. During the ceremony at Speke Resort Munyonyo on Saturday where President Museveni Album was launched, Museveni said that he’s happy with Kenzo’s honesty in regard to the money given to the UNMF.

Museveni then went ahead to reveal the singer’s much guarded secret about his father. In attendance was some of the other children of the late Chef Ali whom Museveni said that they closely resemble the singer.
In a press conference held today, Kenzo has talked about the situation saying that he didn’t want to delve much into this puzzle especially due to the bond he shares with his family that he grew up with. The BET Award winner said that he was told by his mother’s close friend how he was born between 1989-1990. He added that his mother came from Rwanda and settled in Masaka.
He only knew his grandfather from his mother’s side. And when both his mother and grandfather passed away, he lost any trace to his mother’s side. The only relatives he remained with were his sister, and brother Mande, children of his mother’s husband, Hassan, who the singer also knew as his biological dad.

When rumors continued mounting about Hassan not being his dad, he went dug up his remains and had a DNA test conducted which confirmed the sad reality that the two indeed weren’t related. Even after realizing that the late Chef Ali’s family might be his real family, he didn’t dive deep into it because he felt no real relationship with them.
The Semyekozo singer added that he’s grown up from the streets and a loner, his life doesn’t know any other culture apart from being a Muganda who have groomed him.
It should be noted that Brg. Chef Ali was one of the 27 NRA guerillas that fought in the famous bush war that brought President Museveni into power in 1986.
Chef Ali had been fighting against the then president, Idi Amin before merging his forces with Museveni. He’s famous for leading the 11th battalion which crashed Mbarara Barracks before later capturing Nakulabye and Makerere as President Museveni eventually captured power.
