For the first time in a long time, Kira Municipality MP, Hon Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has passed a ‘bicycle’ through the National Unity Platform and it’s leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu. Speaking on a political talkshow hosted on CBS FM, Ssemujju said that the habit of bringing political amateurs into Parliament should stop citing NUP as one of the culprits behind this habit.

The outspoken legislator said that in fact if it was up to him, he would never have allowed the late Kawempe North MP Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya to come to Parliament.
He said that however much he liked the late comic MP and defended him severally, he wasn’t fit to be an MP. Ssemujju recalled one time when Ssegirinya knelt in front of him and cried after he was denied money for treatment abroad. The PFF chief of Staff and secretary general said that he boldly told the late MP how a man can never kneel or cry in public no matter what they are faced with.
Ssemujju added that each person should specialize in what they do best. He recalled when he was the chief whip and was instructed to sack Bugweri County MP, Hon. Abdu Katuntu and replace him with the then Kawempe South MP Hon Mubarak Munyagwa. The Kira MP said that he felt ashamed and refused to heed by this call.

Furthermore, he said that NUP has some brilliant legislators such as Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi but he doesn’t know why they don’t deal away with this habit unless they know they will also be exposed for having amateurs in the Parliament.
The MP argued that the habit of filling Parliament with such people risks losing the nation further deep into a crisis adding that Uganda is the only nation have and they should look after it diligently. According to the MP who is seeking reelection for a 4th term everyone has what they do best.
He pointed to NUP leader, Bobi Wine’s rallies where there are musicians whose job is to solely sing and entertain crowds and those who are most qualified for debate and speeches do the talking.
Asked about whether Bobi is qualified for President since he’s also a musician, Ssemujju said that it’s a different concept and refused to discuss about the presidential candidate. He was nonetheless told by the moderator that the former Kyadondo East MP is the one who currently has ‘electricity’.
Ssemujju didn’t hold back saying that being a President and having ‘masanyalaze’ are two very different things adding that, you can have the later and still fail to govern a nation or any leadership job. It should be recalled that Ssemujju will be clashing with NUP’s George Musisi to retain his Kira MP seat.
