- Tuff B declares independent candidacy for Makindye East after NUP chooses Ali Mulyanyama.
- Says he’s following Bobi Wine’s advice not to blindly follow party lines but stand for the people.
- Promises a people-centered campaign built on transparency and substance, not propaganda.
Media personality turned politician Robert Sekidde, popularly known as Tuff B, has announced that he will contest for the Makindye East parliamentary seat as an independent candidate. The decision follows the National Unity Platform (NUP) led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, choosing Ali Mulyanyama as the party’s official candidate.

Speaking to Anna Talia Oze on NBS TV, Tuff B emphasised the importance of staying connected to the people rather than rigidly following party directives.
“Our party is built on the power of the people. That’s why I’ll go back to the people,” he said.
He cited his party president, Kyagulanyi’s guidance on transparency and accountability.

“My president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, who I listen to, told us not to blindly follow the party or anyone—even him—especially if we feel they are not transparent. Our mandate is to walk with the people,” Tuff B added.
He also highlighted the example of Kyagulanyi campaigning for Hon. Rebecca Kadaga in Busoga in 2021, despite potential party disagreement.
The former NBS TV presenter further said that “On the ground, it’s not all about showing your might but what people think. People are not stupid. People are not hoodwinked by propaganda. They look for someone with substance ready to transform their area,” he said.
Apparently,Tuff B feels that he’s got the people’s support to enable him win the Makindye East MP seat and he will try to go solo without the party endorsement.
