• King Michael says he drove off with Chameleone’s clothes after a disagreement.
  • Chameleone allegedly mobilized gangs to block him along the route.
  • Michael outsmarted him and performed extra shows using Chameleone’s clothes.

Veteran singer Michael Mugwanya, popularly known as King Michael, has revealed how Dr. Jose Chameleone’s clothes once turned into both a curse and a blessing for him.

According to Michael, years ago he was scheduled to perform in Ishaka alongside the Leone Island boss. However, midway through their journey, Chameleone received another offer from a promoter worth Shs 5 million and jumped out of the car to take it.

“I got annoyed and drove off with his clothes. That’s when the drama started,” King Michael said.

He narrated that Chameleone then threatened him, claiming he wouldn’t make it past Mpigi and went ahead to alert his “gangs” across the route from Mpigi to Mbarara to block him. But Michael, who also had his own connections, managed to outsmart them by bribing his allies along the way.

When he reached Ishaka, Michael performed successfully, and on his way back, a promoter in Mbarara booked him for another gig, mistaking him for being with Chameleone. Michael said he pocketed both payments, showing the promoter Chameleone’s clothes—famously used in the Kipepewo video—as proof that the singer was “on the way.”

In the end, King Michael performed two extra shows without Chameleone—thanks to the same clothes that had sparked the feud.
