Ugandan rising superstar Joshua Baraka is celebrating yet another milestone after being nominated for Artist of the Year at the TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) 2025.

The singer, who gained continental recognition following his 2023 hit single Nana, continues to shine as one of East Africa’s most promising young acts.

The Wrong Places crooner will battle it out for the prestigious nomination with some other leading African artists. These includie Moliy (Ghana), JazzWrld (South Africa), and Shallipopi (Nigeria).

Apparently the TikTok Awards SSA honor creators and musicians who have significantly influenced audiences across the region through creativity, entertainment, and community connection.

Expressing his gratitude, Baraka took to social media to rally support from fans:

“Huge news fam! I’ve been nominated for Artist of the Year at the #TikTokAwardsSSA. This one is for Uganda, for East Africa, and for everyone who’s been rocking with me since day one,” he wrote.

Voting for the awards is open until November 14, and Baraka has urged fans to help him bring the win home for Uganda.
The artist who has been on the scene has had a stellar year not only locally but also on the international stage.
