• Dax Vibez has spoken about his nephew Churchill’s fallout with NUP and his choice to run independently.
  • He says the Ssentamu family breeds independent leaders who aren’t spoon-fed.
  • Dax insists NUP’s decision was not favoritism and continues to support his nephew fully.

Singer Dax Vibez has spoken out about his nephew James Churchill Ssentamu being denied the NUP party ticket, shedding light on the young man’s early political journey.

It should be noted that Churchill was denied the party’s flag for Makerere University Guild Resident, but he defied the odds by running as an independent candidate — and won.

During his tenure, Churchill met President Yoweri Museveni, shook his hand, and posed for photos with him — a move that drew criticism from NUP supporters and even his father, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu. Many labeled him the prodigal son for associating with the President.

The young politician has since declined to run on the NUP ticket for Kampala Youth MP, again opting to contest as an independent.

Speaking on the matter, Dax Vibez said people should understand that the NUP party operates through independent organs that make decisions without favoritism.

He emphasized that the Ssentamu family deserves credit for preparing Churchill to be independent and capable.

“As the Ssentamu family, we are stars and leaders — that can’t be denied. We should be credited for preparing Churchill for the world ahead and helping him stand on his own. We don’t spoon-feed, and this has helped him grow,” said Dax Vibez.

“Even NUP as a party has its independent organs that decided he wasn’t the best suited at the moment. That’s not a bad thing,” he added.

Dax Vibez concluded by affirming his full support for his nephew, saying he has been supporting him throughout his political journey.
