• Buchaman left Firebase after Bobi Wine failed to honor their agreement to support each other at concerts.
  • He was the voice behind the famous “Ye ssebo Busabala” ad and Busabala concert ambassador but was never paid.
  • Buchaman claims he was used and betrayed by NRM, providing strategies to counter Bobi Wine while receiving no compensation.

Former Firebase president, Mark Bugembe, popularly known as Buchaman, has opened up about the real reason he left Bobi Wine’s Firebase more than a decade ago. It should be noted that Buchaman was once Bobi Wine’s right-hand man, and the two have plenty of history together.

Speaking to YouTuber Shalom Kaweesi, the Sumulula singer revealed that he left the Kamwokya-based label because Bobi Wine went against his word. According to Buchaman, they had an agreement to support each other at their respective concerts, both in terms of performances and in managing debts in case a concert flopped.

Additionally, Buchaman said that he was the brand ambassador for Bobi Wine’s Busabala concert and was the voice behind the famous “Ye ssebo Busabala” ad. Despite the concert’s massive success, he was not paid.

“The reason why I left Bobi Wine and Firebase is because the principal went against his word. We had agreed that each of us would support one another at our concerts, whether through payment or performances, but this wasn’t respected. Additionally, I was the voice behind ‘Ye ssebo Busabala’ and the ambassador, but I wasn’t getting paid, so I had to leave,” he said.

Buchaman also recently revealed that Bobi Wine owns all the songs he recorded under Firebase. Beyond his fallout with Bobi Wine, the singer expressed his discontent with NRM and President Museveni.

According to him, he was used and betrayed by the ruling party, as he provided the “ghetto structures blueprint” currently being used to counter Bobi Wine in Kampala. He added that he didn’t receive any money from President Museveni or Gen. Salim Saleh despite posing for photos with them.

Buchaman believes the ruling party fears he might turn into another Bobi Wine, which is why they are also distancing Alien Skin. He warned, however, that NRM will face challenges when Bobi Wine’s campaign reaches Kampala.
