• Bebe Cool says Bobi Wine doesn’t understand the meaning of “Protest Vote.”
  • He blames NUP’s poor performance on Bobi’s refusal to consult political veterans.
  • The singer also discouraged uneducated entertainers from joining politics.

Singer Bebe Cool has come out to accuse NUP and its leader Bobi Wine of not understanding the meaning of their 2026 general elections slogan, “Protest Vote.” It should be noted that the Makerere–Kavule-based movement has been running with this motto, and many affiliated with the People Power brigade have vowed to put it into motion come election time.

But according to Bebe Cool, the party has already shown that it cannot deliver on this, thanks to Bobi Wine’s incompetence. The Gagamel boss said that the former Kyadondo East MP’s failure to consult and learn from his predecessors, such as Dr. Col. Kizza Besigye, shows he is doomed for failure.

The Wire Wire singer pointed out that NRM has fielded over 500 candidates for various parliamentary elections, as well as more than 300 independent NRM-leaning ones. Meanwhile, NUP, which currently has 57 MPs in Parliament, has only fielded 297. Additionally, the self-styled Big Size said that NRM has already won over 10 seats even before voting begins.

“My young brother is just big-headed and doesn’t want to learn or even ask for advice from his predecessors such as Dr. Besigye. In the current Parliament they have about 57 MPs but fielded only 297 candidates while NRM has over 500 as well as other leaning candidates. Ten MPs from the NRM have already won unopposed even before the election takes place. Does he mean that they had no one who could step up in those places? I think they just don’t understand their concept of Protest Vote,” said Bebe Cool.

Additionally, the singer said he felt bad when Buganda and some distinguished career politicians decided to rally behind Bobi Wine. As he expected, NUP leaders have, in his view, ended the political careers of the likes of Mathias Mpuuga, among others.

On why he doesn’t support fellow singers joining Parliament, Bebe said that someone shouldn’t contest if they are not educated or lack leadership capabilities. He called upon voters to scrutinize such candidates carefully come election time.
