- The dispute highlights the importance of brand registration among Ugandan creatives to protect ownership and identity.
Singer Alien Skin is facing a legal dispute that could see him lose rights to his record label, Fangone Forest Entertainment Ltd.
According to documents from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) seen by this website, the Fangone Forest name was registered and trademarked by businessman Agumiikiriza Aguma Aaron, rather than Alien Skin himself.

The matter came to light after URSB documents showing that Patrick Shyaka & Co. Advocates, acting on behalf of Alien Skin, filed a notice of opposition to trademark application No. 2023/79921 for “ALIEN SKIN” under Fangone Forest Entertainment Ltd.
Apparently, Alien Skin’s legal team argues that the name has been in use for more than four years, during which it has gained substantial goodwill and public recognition. The notice further claims that allowing the registration could mislead the public into believing that the label belongs to someone else.

Therefore if Aaron’s registration is upheld, Alien Skin could lose legal control over the Fangone Forest brand, which has become central to his music career and public image.
For now, his lawyers have 42 days from the date of the notice to file supporting evidence under the Trade Marks Act, 2010.
The revelation has sparked intense debate online. Some commentators argue that Alien Skin made a costly mistake by failing to secure the name early, while others view the move as opportunistic. Many have taken the incident as a reminder of the need for artists and entrepreneurs to legally protect their brands before problems arise.
Alien Skin’s legal team is expected to explore all possible avenues to reclaim ownership of the Fangone Forest name. It should be noted that this is not the first time the Sitya Danger singer is getting embroiled in such a mess. Events promoter, Abbey Musinguzi aka Abitex also a few years ago gave the singer a scare when he claimed the name was legally his.
For now, the singer’s supporters and himself will have to wait and see what comes out of the court.
