Songstress Ava Peace has come out to dismiss claims that she was inspired by fellow artist Sheebah Karungi in her musical journey.

It’s worth noting that Queen Karma (Sheebah) has been a household name for nearly two decades and has inspired a generation of Ugandan musicians.

However, during an interview on Galaxy FM, Ava Peace clarified that her real idol has always been Winnie Nwagi. She emphasized that while she deeply respects Sheebah’s influence, she has never cited her as a personal inspiration.

“My idol is Winnie Nwagi and I have consistently and over time said this. I have not at one time said that Sheebah is my idol, but I acknowledge her impact and influence in the music industry. She has without a doubt inspired many artists currently,” Ava Peace said.

The London hitmaker added that despite previous reports claiming she once mentioned Sheebah among her idols, her focus remains on building her own legacy under Team No Sleep (TNS) — the same label that once housed Sheebah.

Ava also spoke about the “Somebody” song controversy, where both she and Sheebah reportedly bought the same track from one songwriter. The incident fueled tension between their fanbases, with Sheebaholics accusing Ava of copying their star.

According to Ava, the misunderstanding originated from the songwriter’s actions, not personal animosity.

“That saga came from the writer who sold the song to both camps. I have no problem with Sheebah,” she added.
