• State Minister for the Youth, Balaam Barugahara, has accused the National Unity Platform of stealing 2 million votes from President Museveni in the 2021 elections.
  • Balaam claims the President showed him evidence of the alleged fraud, expressing anger over the incident. He vows that the 2026 elections will be fraud-proof through computer-based verification and biometric systems.

The State Minister for the Youth, Balaam Barugahara, has asserted that President Museveni’s votes were stolen in the 2021 election. In a tone laced with sarcasm, Balaam suggested that the President hesitated to protect his vote when he contested against musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine, who was his main rival on the presidential ballot.

The events promoter claimed that approximately 2 million of the President’s votes were robbed and went on to accuse the National Unity Platform (NUP) of the act.

Nonetheless, Balaam stated that it’s the end of the road for NUP this time, as they have taken measures to bolster their defenses against electoral fraud, ensuring that every vote will be verified using a computer.

“Mzee’s votes were stolen by NUP in the last election. Roughly 2 million votes disappeared, and we know who was responsible. The President presented us with the evidence, which upset me greatly. However, this time, there’s no room for mistakes as everything will be processed by a computer, so for those planning to tamper with votes, it’s over,” he remarked.

The President has repeatedly accused NUP of participating in electoral fraud, claiming that he possesses substantial evidence that the party, based in Kavule, stole his votes.

In response, NUP challenged the President to bring this evidence to Court so they can confront these accusations, something that has never occurred before.

Meanwhile, in preparation for the 2026 general elections, the Electoral Commission announced that voting will be conducted using a biometric system.
