• During the emotional launch of his Break The Chains album in Kampala, Ugandan music icon Bebe Cool revealed that he nearly canceled the project after his daughter, Beata Ssali Nantongo, experienced a life-threatening medical emergency.
  • While recording the album in Nigeria, Bebe Cool was unable to fly home immediately due to unavailable flights.

Bebe Cool moved the crowd emotionally during the release event for his Break The Chains Album last night at Noni Vie in Kampala, as he recounted a heartfelt story regarding how he nearly lost his daughter Beata Ssali Sophia.

Addressing the crowd, the Gagamel chief mentioned that he nearly scrapped this album. It’s important to remember that he recorded this album in Nigeria nearly a year ago.

While speaking, he expressed that even though he covered all the costs for the album, he seriously considered halting the album’s release to be with his daughter who was battling for her life. Unfortunately, there were no immediate flights available to bring him back to Uganda.

Fortunately, seven doctors arrived shortly after, about an hour after the incident, and began treating her organ by organ. Ultimately, she was stabilized, allowing him to proceed with the project.

“I recall almost putting a stop to this project to return to my daughter because it seemed she might lose her life. I had already paid for all the project expenses, but I thought about coming home to be with her. Sadly, there were no direct flights back to Uganda, but thankfully, seven doctors showed up after the incident and worked on her until she recovered,” he shared.

Bebe Cool even went on to perform one of the songs from the album titled ‘Home’ for her following this emotional address. This particular song was recorded on the very day of the incident and served as a tribute to his cherished daughter, Beata.
