• Bobi Wine urged former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to quit NRM and join NUP, promising her honor and respect.
  • He highlighted their Mbogo clan connection, saying Kadaga deserves better than the disrespect she faces in Museveni’s party.
  • The NUP leader also rallied Busoga locals to support the opposition, declaring that the party’s roots lie in the region.

The leader of the National Unity Platform, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, has reached out to the embattled NRM politician, Hon Rebecca Kadaga. While inaugurating the NUP headquarters in Iganga, Bobi Wine urged the former Speaker to sever ties with the Museveni-led party, as she is not appreciated there.

Bobi Wine mentioned that, according to cultural customs, Kadaga is considered his Senga (paternal aunt) since they both belong to the Mbogo (Buffalo) clan.

He expressed his discontent with the disrespect she is enduring in the ruling party. He encouraged Kadaga to unite with the movement for change in order to receive the appreciation and respect she rightfully deserves.

“I want to convey this message to someone very dear to both the Basoga and myself, Hon Rebecca Kadaga. While you refer to her as Mama here, I call her Senga due to our shared Mbogo clan. I need to let her know that those people do not hold her in high regard. She should join the forces of change here, where she will receive the affection and respect she is entitled to,” stated Bobi Wine.

It is important to mention that the former Speaker is currently facing a leadership dispute within the NRM, as she is facing the current Speaker, Hon Anita Among, for the national female vice chairperson position of the NRM.

Recently, Museveni advised Kadaga to refrain from displaying self-entitlement in front of many NRM delegates.

In addition, Bobi Wine encouraged the citizens of Busoga to rally behind NUP and provide their unwavering support. He emphasized that this party has its origins in the region and belongs to the people, urging them to cherish, cultivate, and support it.
