• DJ Jacob Omutuuze says Gen. Muhoozi unknowingly jump-started his education by giving him 100,000 shillings when he was a street child.
  • He used the money to enroll at Nabagereka Primary School while still living on the streets.
  • Jacob rose from a struggling street kid to become a celebrated radio presenter and Bunamwaya Town Council Mayor.

Renowned media personality and National Unity Platform cadre, DJ Jacob Omutuuze, who also serves as the Lord Mayor of Bunamwaya Town Council, has revealed how the current CDF, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, played a role in his academic journey.

While appearing on the Deep Talk show on Galaxy TV, Jacob revealed that he used to live on the streets along Kampala Road. However, one day, as luck would have it, Muhoozi passed by a video library to buy some films and ice cream.

The First Son then handed Jacob about 100,000 shillings since he was one of the street kids begging for money. As soon as he received it, Jacob told one of his friends that he was going back to school, but the friend laughed at him and told him he couldn’t manage school and should remain on the streets.

Undeterred, Jacob went to a school known as Nabagereka Primary School and paid for everything required. According to him, he simply needed something to keep him busy during the daytime because authorities often rounded them up during the day.

He would go to school during the day and return to the streets in the evening. One day, he was about to be suspended from school because he was always untidy and often slept in class. When questioned about this, he told the teacher that he was his own parent and expelling him would further jeopardize his life.

“Museveni’s son Muhoozi gave me 100k as one of those random kids begging on the streets as he used to come to a certain video library to buy films and ice cream. I used this money to go and enroll at school. But I remember when they were going to expel me for always sleeping in class and I told them my ordeal,” he said.

Jacob would later go on to become one of the most popular radio presenters in Kampala and has also found success in politics.
