• Dokta Brain, now one of Uganda’s top emerging musicians and songwriters, reveals that his journey began with a diss track tribute to Bobi Wine.
  •  Initially hoping to defend his idol against Bebe Cool’s attacks, his shyness turned the visit into a turning point—one that led him to the studio and into a solo career.

Musician and songwriter Dokta Brain has shared how he found his way to becoming one of the rapidly emerging artists in the nation and one of the top songwriters today. The singer mentioned that he arrived in Kampala with grand aspirations but was unsure of how to achieve them.

He was a devoted follower of Firebase president Bobi Wine during the intense rivalry with Gagamel boss, Big Size Bebe Cool. During that time, the two artists were engaged in a series of diss tracks, with Bebe Cool targeting Bobi Wine in his song “Kamwako.”

As a passionate fan, Dokta Brain recognized that the situation seemed dire, but he couldn’t bear to see his idol defeated. He composed a song and went to meet the ghetto gladiator, but when he arrived, he became too shy to inform Bobi Wine that the song was actually intended as a response to Bebe Cool.

“I arrived in Kampala with lofty ambitions but was uncertain about where to start. During that time, Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool were in a feud, and I was a supporter of Bobi. When Bebe Cool released his diss track ‘Kamwako,’ I realized there was no reply, so I wrote one for Bobi Wine and went to see him. However, I ended up feeling too bashful to perform it for him,” Dokta Brain recounted on the Ugandan Boy Talk Show.

In reality, Bobi Wine interpreted Dokta Brain’s visit as him wanting to pursue a solo career and suggested that he connect with his producer Tony Houlz in Bugolobi.

Dokta Brain went to the studio the next day and waited there. By the time the singer of “Wesotinge” arrived, a long line of people seeking various forms of assistance had formed.

He felt embarrassed, thinking that his issue did not compare in seriousness, and chose to leave without receiving help. This moment ultimately directed him onto his own career path that continues to this day.
