- Eddy Kenzo says Museveni was right to skip the NTV presidential debate, calling it “amateurish” and lacking substance.
- Claims nothing new was discussed, including on the Copyright Bill, which he says is already nearing completion.
- Debate attendance and structure drew criticism, with the absence of Museveni affecting public perception.
Singer Eddy Kenzo has come out to boast that the NRM presidential candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, made the right decision by not appearing on the recent NTV presidential debate. According to Kenzo, the debate was “amateurish,” and Museveni had no reason to attend.

The singer mocked those who participated, saying they were simply wasting time because they “had nothing sensible to discuss.” He argued that nothing of substance emerged from the debate and that no one can even recall anything memorable from what transpired.
Additionally, the Balikoowa singer said most of the issues raised were not new to the public—pointing to the Copyright Bill that NUP president Bobi Wine emphasized. Kenzo noted that the bill is already in its final stages.
The UNMF president added that once Parliament resumes, copyright stakeholders will embark on nationwide sensitization for all parties involved in the law.

“Our candidate was right not to go into such a debate. There is no way he could have gone there when all the people involved were discussing nothing of substance. There is even nothing you can remember from what took place. They didn’t talk about anything new on copyright, but once Parliament resumes, we are going into sensitization and completing it,” said Kenzo.
It should be noted that the presidential debate was attended by five candidates, while three absconded. According to partial public opinion, the debate failed to live up to expectations—partly due to the mode of questioning and the absence of President Museveni.
