- Despite political challenges, Lukwago seeks funding partnerships and pledges a sustainable, inclusive city for his fourth term.
The Lord mayor of Kampala Erias Lukwago has outlined the manifesto of his fourth term as the political leader of Kampala. Lukwago who was nominated by the Electoral Commission this week while being flanked by fellow members from the PFF, said that this term will be driven by the urgency to implement what he’s fought for in the past 15 years.

Lukwago who assumed he office of the Lord mayor in 2011 from the late Al-Hajj Ssebagala said that he will be fighting for a Kampala which serves all Ugandans and not just a few rich mafias.
Some of the things, Lukwago said that he will put on emphasis include the structure plan, strategic plan, the education master plan, the sanitation plan, drainage plan among others.
“We have already laid the groundwork, and now we are moving into the phase of implementation. This means putting into action the structure plan, the strategic plan, the education master plan, the sanitation and drainage plans, the street lighting plan, and all other critical blueprints that require serious intervention.”

Additionally the PFF leader said that “We are determined to pitch for funding, including from development partners who have already shown willingness to support us. Our priority will be to protect and preserve vital public assets such as drainage channels, school land, health facilities, and green belts. That is why I have been firm in this fight.
Furthermore, the seasoned politician went ahead to say that “Ultimately, our vision is about social justice and equity. We want a Kampala that works for everyone—not just a privileged few or cartels, but also the poor and marginalized, even those often dismissed as the ‘riffraff.’ We must ensure the city is developed sustainably for all Ugandans. That is where I am putting my effort.”
However, Lukwago faces a stumbling block in his bid to reclaim his sea especially from one of his opponents, NUP’s Eng. Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga. Balimwezo who is the outgoing Nakawa East MP, is also a seasoned leader im Kampala.
There are calls from some sections of the public and political circles to depose Lukwago from his seat with these arguing that he’s done nothing other than moaning all the time.
