• Democratic Front (DF) under Mathias Mpuuga endorses former MP Hon. Kasibante Moses for Rubaga Division Mayor.
  • Kasibante, once Rubaga North MP (2011–2021), will face off with NUP’s current mayor, Mberaze Zacchy.
  • The race highlights growing tensions between Mpuuga’s DF and Robert Kyagulanyi’s NUP.

Mathias Mpuuga’s Democratic Front has endorsed Kasibante Moses as the flag bearer of the party for the post of Mayor of Rubaga Division. This communication was made via the party’s social media platforms.

“The Democratic Front proudly announces the endorsement of Hon Kasibante Moses as the party’s official flag bearer for the position of Mayor, Rubaga Division in the upcoming elections.”

DF went ahead to brand their new flag bearer as someone who has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, integrity and unwavering commitment to the people of Rubaga.

Additionally the party said that their new flag bearer’s track record of service and advocacy for community development makes him the ideal candidate to advance the party’s vision of inclusive governance, accountability and sustainable progress.

It should be noted that Hon Kasibante Moses was the MP for Rubaga North constituency from 2011-2021. He was succeeded by NUP’s Abubaker Kawalya.

Meanwhile NUP’s Mberaze Zacchy is currently the mayor ot Rubaga Division. Therefore it will be a tussle not just between individuals but rather NUP and DF especially owing to the history and fallout between the leaders of the two political parties, Hon Mathias Mpuuga and Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
