• Hon Mukasa Mbidde leaves East African Parliament to contest for Buwekula County MP.
  • He says his decision follows calls from locals demanding stronger leadership.

Hon Fred Mukasa Mbidde has announced his intentions to run for Buwekula County parliamentary seat. During a Thanksgiving ceremony held in the constituency, Mbidde said that it’s high time he comes back home to serve his people.

It should be noted that he has been serving as a legislator in the Eastern African Parliament for the past couple of years. However, he said that after requests from the people of Buwekula to come and represent them, he’s not going to go back to the East African Parliament.

“I want you all to know that I have been serving in the East African Parliament which serves about 8 nations. But as our ancestors say that when you’re urinating, the urine starts from above and ends down, I’m also back home to serve you my people.”

“This wasn’t solely my decision but one that I came at after your numerous requests to come and serve you. I have been seeing many people showing interest in the seat. So I’m also here now officially to announce my candidature,” said Mbidde.

It should be noted that Mbidde first contested in Nyendo-Mukungwe which is found in Masaka located in Buddu Saaza. However he’s now decided to turn his attention to Buwekula County in Mubende.

This function was attended by numerous people of different titles. These ranged from cultural leaders from Buganda Kingdom, religious leaders, those from the central government and opposition.

One thing they all rallied the people at is to vote for people who are able to deal with their problems such as land theft, tribalism, putting Buganda back on top amongst others.

Several people took to their knees to plead with Mbidde who belongs to the Democratic Party to come and help them deal away with incapable leaders. It should be noted that the area is represented by NRM’s Hon. Pascal Mbabazi.
