Zex Bilangilangi had his sights set on the Ghetto Search Finals, a platform that promised an opportunity for aspiring artists into the limelight. Bobi Wine and Nubian Li were among the judges and Zex wanted to seize the opportunity and make a name for himself.
While appearing on “the Deep Talk” with Mr. Henrie on Galaxy TV, Zex narrated that as the finals approached, he faced a setback that threatened to hold his dreams. Despite his desire to participate, circumstances beyond his control made it impossible, leaving him stranded without the means to make it to the event. But he remained resilient and chased the opportunity once again.
He approached Bobi Wine while he was chilling in his Escalade with Nubian Li – hoping for a chance to showcase his talent. To his surprise, Bobi not only recognized him but also inquired about his absence from the finals.
With honesty, Zex revealed the reason behind his absence, recounting how the school regulations had prevented him from accessing his phone through which he could have received the notification. Moved by Zex’s sincerity and passion for music, Bobi Wine accepted to give him a chance.

Bobi invited him to perform with the Firebase Crew and he took Zex under his wing, guiding him through the music industry and introduced him to other people including Bobi’s young brother, Daxx Vibes. Over the years, their bond deepened and grew into a genuine friendship.
He (Bobi Wine) even came to our school leaver’s party, courtesy of my invite. It was an adventist school and they didn’t allow musicians to attend but the Headmaster knew my whole story and made an exception to allow Bobi Wine to attend. It was a beautiful moment that I always cherish
