• Pastor Wilson Bugembe, lead of Worship House Church, emotionally recounts selling his upscale Kiwatule home to raise Shs 1 billion for church land.
  • Despite the sacrifice, he admits to feeling low—until secular musician Gravity Omutujju visited and offered powerful words of encouragement.

Worship House’s lead pastor, Wilson Bugembe, shared how he was once healed by singer Gravity Omutujju. Even though he is a man of God, typically expected to provide healing and comfort, this time it was a secular musician with dreadlocks who offered him solace.

Pastor Wilson Bugembe

Bugembe revealed that he sold his house in Kiwatule for approximately 700 million shillings. His church in Nansana required about a billion shillings to secure parking space for its congregants.

Lacking the necessary funds, he sold his house and even took out a bank loan for 300 million shillings.

Despite having worked hard through music to purchase a home in an upscale area, he felt disheartened, even though he had contributed to God’s ministry. However, one Sunday, Gravity visited for prayers, and during their conversation, Bugembe shared his struggles.

Gravity reassured him by saying that the Kabaka, the president, the ill, and others in need of God’s presence cannot visit Bugembe’s home but instead come to the church. Thus, what he had done was for God’s people, and this perspective somehow healed the Kani singer’s heart.

“I recall a time when the Church required around a billion shillings, and I was anxious about how we would manage to raise the funds. I ended up selling my home in Kiwatule for 700 million shillings and also took a loan of 300 million shillings. We then acquired land for the congregants to park. However, I felt a bit down because I had worked hard in music to buy a house in Kiwatule, which is quite pricey.”

“Nevertheless, one Sunday, while conversing with Gravity, he comforted me by stating that the Kabaka, the president, or others in need cannot visit my home but rather the church. Therefore, all my efforts were for God’s people, which helped lift my spirits and brought a smile to my face,” the Pastor expressed.

Additionally, the well-known pastor expressed admiration for fellow artists, especially those from the secular music scene.

He praised singers like Bebe Cool for their contributions to the church’s construction, noting that these acts were performed for God rather than for him personally, as some of them might not even be Christians.
