Kenyan music lovers are in for a thrilling experience come this September. This is after the announcement that Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Tems will headline the Blankets and Wine Festival on September 28, 2025, in Nairobi.

Her performance will mark her long-awaited return after she cancelled her 2022 show. Excitement is already building across East Africa.

The curvy gorgeous singer is known for hits like Free Mind and Essence (with Wizkid and Justin Bieber) among others.

She will perform alongside a star-studded lineup featuring regional talents such as Willis Chimano of Sauti Sol who is known for his bold style and powerful vocals and Zaituni Wambui, a fast-rising Kenyan star who has been credited for pioneering the“Urban Taarab,” style, a blend of Swahili Taarab and contemporary pop.

Adding regional flavor to the show is Uganda’s fast rising, star Joshua Baraka. The soulful singer famous for his Wrong Places hit recently made waves after revealing his Kenyan heritage.

“My dad is from Busia, and I spent part of my childhood in Eldoret,” Baraka shared in a recent interview, even speaking in his native dialect.

Meanwhile, the upcoming show follows Tems’ globally acclaimed performance at the just concluded FIFA Club World Cup Final halftime show which too place on July 13 in New Jersey, USA. This drew massive praise for her stage presence and artistry.

Tems who had previously disappointed Kenyan fans in October 2022, citing “circumstances beyond my control” for her show’s cancellation will be hoping to leave the revellers yearning for more.

Her statement read at the previous concert read that , “It is quite heartbreaking… but I look forward to coming and giving you a show that you deserve.”

Therefore with her return confirmed, fans can finally look forward to seeing the iconic singer live. The Blankets and Wine concert promises a fusion of soul, Afrobeat, and modern African sound in a single unforgettable night. It will also be her first performance in East Africa since she was locked up in Uganda in 2021 alongside fellow Nigerian singer, Omah Lay for breaking the COVID-19 protocols.
