- Amelia Kyambadde, former Trade Minister and MP for Mawokota North, has announced her return to politics, aiming to reclaim her seat from current MP Dr. Hilderman.
- She vows to restore socio-economic progress and re-engage with the community, pointing to her past record as proof of capability.
It seems that singer-turned-politician Hillary Kiyaga, known as Dr. Hilderman, will struggle to regain his position in Parliament for Mawokota North County now that experienced politician Amelia Kyambadde is back in the race. The former Trade and Industry Minister has stated that the musician has significantly let down the constituency, offering little more than entertainment.

Amelia, who has already been nominated for the NRM primaries, expressed that she once had faith in the Ebikutte singer but is now sorely disappointed.
She pointed out that, during her term as the area’s MP from 2011 to 2016, Hilderman only engaged with the community through performances, providing no substantial development initiatives that benefit them.
“I am returning to Parliament because my successor, Hilderman, has not served the people of Mawokota North well. I aim to return to Parliament to bring life back to this region. His only notable contribution has been entertainment; whenever there were requests for events, he would come and perform a few songs before leaving. So I am here to reclaim my position,” she stated.

It is worth mentioning that Amelia and Hilderman had a close working relationship in 2011 when he helped her successful campaign with a song titled “Amelia,” which became a hit and contributed to her election to Parliament.
Kyambadde, who has been involved in government since the 1970s, has been commended by her constituents for positively impacting their socio-economic conditions.
However, many believe that her initiatives came to a halt when she lost her seat. There is a strong sentiment that she will triumph in her quest to regain her position.
