The Secretary General of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) and singer Phina Mugerwa has advised the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), Eddy Kenzo, to understand that leadership is never a smooth journey.

Her remarks come after Kenzo’s recent emotional rant in which he claimed that some fellow musicians—allegedly influenced by government officials—were fighting him. The Big Talent boss even threatened to resign from his position as UNMF president before later retracting his statement.
Phina, however, encouraged Kenzo to remain steadfast and patient.
“I want to advise my brother Eddy Kenzo to know that leadership is not easy. It has a lot of hiccups and cannot be smooth. That’s why not everyone can lead, but only those who are special do. He should therefore not give up,” she said.

Meanwhile, Phina also weighed in on King Saha’s claim that he is the rightful president of UMA, arguing that since he serves as vice president, his assertion holds some truth.
Saha has previously accused the association of electoral irregularities during his contest against Cindy Sanyu, who currently serves as UMA president.
Phina further revealed that UMA is collaborating with the government on the GROW Project, which will establish a seven-storey tower dedicated to the creative industry. She added that once completed, renovation works at the National Theatre will follow.
The Masanyalaze hitmaker also urged fellow musicians to support initiatives aimed at improving the music industry. This came in response to questions on why UMA had not been actively involved in the funeral arrangements of the late singer Olisha M.
