• Mathias Walukaga, mayor of Nsangi Town Council and National Unity Platform member, has dismissed allegations that the party sells flag bearer cards to the highest bidders.
  • He described the accusations as propaganda spread by the NRM to discredit the Bobi Wine-led opposition party.

The mayor of Nsangi Town Council, Mathias Walukaga has dismissed allegations that the National Unity Platform which he subscribes to sells cards to flag bearers. For some time, the Bobi Wine led party has faced allegations of fraud and corruption.

Rumors have claimed how the party’s selection of flag bearers is undemocratic as the tickets are given to the highest bidders or those close to Bobi Wine. However, Walukaga who is the national coordinator in the arts sector for the party dismissed the claims.

He challenged all those singing these claims to produce evidence of there’s any. Additionally the Kadongo Kamu singer said that these accusations are just propaganda painted around by the NRM just to entrench their stay in power.

“Let me make this categorically clear, NUP does not sell cards to anyone. If there is, I challenge them to come out and bring proof. As a political science student, this is propaganda spread by the NRM to assert their stay in power,” said the Tulepuke singer.

Additionally, the musician said that if this was the case, then the holders of the card wouldn’t just hand them back to the party, they would demand a fee to return them since they financially acquired them.

The veteran singer also said that he’s been campaigning for all individuals across the country who want to contest on the party’s ticket and he’s done all this free of charge.
