Busiro East MP hopeful Mathias Walukagga has revealed how he’s ready to transform the constituency once he’s elected to Parliament. The singer turned politician pointed to some of his achievements as Kyengera Town Council as the blueprint for what he’s capable of once he becomes a fully fledged MP.

According to Walukagga, he found the town council with no administrative block. “I found the town council with no administrative block. It had stalled for over 10 years, but I helped complete it. Today, it houses over 100 offices for different workers at the council,” he said.
Additionally, the NUP Busiro East flag bearer added that soil theft as well as land grabbing were common incidents in the area. This is despite the area having an MP, Police and other leaders at different levels.
He accused them of either paying no attention to these concerns or even colluding with the brokers who were the chief culprits. Walukaaga named one incident where a culprit tried to bribe him to let him off the hook.

The singer said that instead he notified the police and they waylaid this broke, arrested him and everyone he had come with at 5am to steal the soil plus the graders and vans he wanted to use. Walukagga also added that this vice has completely been done away with during his regime.
Furthermore, he said that he found no vehicles, motorcycles or even a bicycle at the council. “When I took over, there were no vehicles, motorcycles, or even a bicycle at the council. Today, several vehicles now aid in administrative work,” he noted.
According to Walukagga, he found the town council’s annual budget at 1.8 billion shillings. However, it’s now nearing 5 billion shillings and he used some of this taxpayer’s money to buy a garbage collecting van.
Even before assuming a position, he said he always strategizes himself. Even when he was going to run for mayor, he knew that after the first term, he would progress to the parliamentary level.
Fortunately, most of the comments on social media users who claim to be from his area agreed with his statements. Several of them gave testimonies of how the Kyengera Town Council mayor helped them to deal with the different struggles they were facing such as land grabbing.
