- Mathias Walukagga vows to reject the Shs200M car cash given to MPs.
- He plans to invest Shs120M into women’s SACCOs in Busiro East.
- Says he won’t enjoy government luxuries from the system he seeks to change.
The aspiring member of Parliament for Busiro East, Mathias Walukagga has stated what he will do with some of the monies he gets when he gets to the legislature. It should be noted that all MPs are given 200m shillings to purchase brand new vehicles whenever they win an election.

But according to Walukagga, he’s got enough cars and he will instead use that money to empower his constituents.
“I have enough cars already; I won’t waste Shs200 million on another one when my people are struggling,” Walukagga said.
He cited how he rejected the car that was bought for him as the Nsangi T/C mayor and instead gave it to the tax collectors. Even the motorcycle that was bought for him was given to his aide.

“Even as Nsangi Mayor, I gave the official car to tax collectors and the motorcycle to my aide. I don’t need government luxuries from the very system I want to change,” he added.
The Tulepuke singer said that there was no way he would be seated comfortably in a government vehicle provided by Museveni who he is trying unseat from power.
Walukagga therefore told the audience that he will use 120m of the 200m shillings to inject capital into women’s SACCOs in the four town councils in his area which are Kyengera T/C, Mende Sub county, Mumyuka sub county and Wakiso Town Council.
According to Walukagga, these SACCOs will be for women doing menial jobs such as selling tea, roasting maize among others to borrow from and empower their businesses.
“I’ll inject Shs120 million into women’s SACCOs across Kyengera, Mende, Mumyuka, and Wakiso to help tea sellers, maize roasters, and other hardworking women grow their businesses,” Walukagga explained.
Well the singer is not the first politician to make such promises and turn around and do the opposite once voted into power. Therefore it will be awaited to see if he lives by his word. Meanwhile Walukagga will have to face off with the current MP, Hon Medard Lubega Ssegona who was denied the NUP card in favor of the Kadongo Kamu singer.
