• Semakula never checks his wife’s phone and avoids arguing over what she might see on his.
  • He believes marriage is built on trust and respect, not constant questioning or surveillance.
  • Experts say respecting privacy is key to preventing mistrust and keeping relationships strong.

Veteran singer Mesach Semakula has opened up about the principles that have kept his marriage strong for decades. In a recent interview, the singer revealed that trust and respect play a central role in his relationship with his wife.

Semakula explained that whenever he comes home, he places his phone on the table and leaves it to his wife to check—or not. In turn, he never looks through her phone. “I do not check my wife’s phone, no matter for how many years, and I have never done this. I can never argue over something she sees on my phone because I simply don’t have time for that,” he said.

He added that he avoids spying on his spouse and does not feel the need to monitor her movements outside the home. Using a vivid metaphor, Semakula likened marriage to riding a bicycle in the bush: “Whatever is done in private will at one time be exposed in public. You cannot hide everything forever.”

For Semakula, as long as he is a responsible husband that fulfills his duties to his family and showing respect to his wife that’s all that matters. “I might have my weaknesses, but the most important thing is to respect my woman and not show these weaknesses in front of her eyes,” he said. He emphasized that he did not marry a “CID interrogator” and has no time for constant questioning, highlighting that mutual trust is key in maintaining a healthy relationship.
