- MP Daudi Kabanda has clashed with Frank Gashumba over criticism of Uganda Cranes’ accommodation at Camp Paradise Hotel Kisasi.
- Gashumba argued that the national team deserves 5-star treatment like other countries, but Kabanda dismissed the claims, branding him a petty old man seeking social media attention.
- The Kasambya County MP, allied with Speaker Anita Among, stressed that luxury hotels don’t guarantee football success and suggested Gashumba should leave “blogging roles” to younger influencers like Chicken Chicken.
Member of Parliament, Hon. Daudi Kabanda has labeled his fellow PLU member, Frank Gashumba, as a petty old man engaging in a blogging role for social media attention. This statement came after Gashumba raised concerns online regarding the accommodation conditions for the Uganda Cranes during the ongoing CHAN tournament.

It is worth mentioning that the Cranes are currently staying at Camp Paradise Hotel Kisasi, a venue that has been their residence for several years. However, it has faced criticism multiple times due to its condition and surrounding area. Recently, the Cranes players were spotted taking a walk in a dusty street, which led to questions.
Gashumba voiced his disappointment, especially noting that other national teams are accommodated in 5-star hotels within more upscale areas. In response, Kabanda, who is allied with the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Anita Among—believed to be the owner of Camp Paradise Hotel—questioned Gashumba’s relevance.
The Kasambya County MP stated that he is uncertain about Gashumba’s level of knowledge regarding football. He pointed out that he has never seen Gashumba at Namboole supporting the team or wearing a Cranes jersey.

As a result, Kabanda accused him of trying to gain social media attention, advising that such roles are more suited for younger individuals like TikToker Chicken Chicken, rather than Gashumba. Furthermore, Kabanda argued that luxury accommodations do not guarantee success in games.
“Some individuals seek unnecessary attention and end up doing the wrong jobs. Gashumba is too old to take on a blogging role; he should leave that to people like Chicken Chicken. Players might stay at Skyz Hotel or Golden Tulip and still not achieve success on the field. Some could argue that instead of staying in such hotels, they could just receive the money and sleep in their cars. There is no link between luxury and football performance,” stated Kabanda.
