Popular comedian Patrick Salvado Idringi has sparked debate after claiming that no company or individual in Uganda can afford his services.

Arguably one of the best English stand-up comedians in the country, Salvado confidently stated that his rates are beyond what most Ugandan service providers can pay.

“Respectfully and not showing off, no one can afford me in Uganda. My services are too high for them. When you see me performing anywhere here, just know I’m simply helping out — usually for my close friends. Whatever they give me isn’t payment, but just a token of appreciation,” he said.

The comedian from Ombokolo explained that his decision is not about arrogance but rather understanding his value and setting a standard that reflects his talent and experience.

Salvado’s claim isn’t without merit. Over the years, he has built a strong reputation as one of Africa’s leading stand-up comedians, performing in several countries such as Nigeria and across East Africa, often leaving audiences in stitches.

In Uganda, Salvado is best known for organizing his flagship show, “Africa Laughs,” which has attracted massive crowds, though it hasn’t been held in the past one or two years. He recently reaffirmed that setting his price high is intentional — because he knows his worth.

“Only those who can afford my services should seek them,” he added.
