Former Firebase Crew member and self-proclaimed Ghetto President, Buchaman, has come out to express deep frustration with his position in the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.

It should be noted that Buchaman was appointed as a Presidential Advisor on Ghetto Affairs a few years ago. However, he says he has never been given an office or proper facilitation to do his work.
The Temumatira singer revealed that whenever he goes to the NRM Secretariat in Kyadondo, he is often ignored and treated like a nuisance. According to him, the only people who have ever supported him are Rose Namayanja and Madame Nekesa, while most others have shunned him.
Buchaman disclosed that he earns only UGX 2 million per month, which barely sustains his family. When he once asked President Museveni for a salary increase, he was told that he “only works for God.” The singer says this response left him helpless and struggling to make ends meet.

He also appealed to fellow musicians Bebe Cool and Eddy Kenzo to help him get a chance to perform on the president’s campaign trail so he can earn some extra income. Bebe Cool reportedly told him that other veteran artists like Raga Dee are still waiting for their turn to be added to the campaign trail to entertain crowds ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Buchaman reminded Eddy Kenzo that he once helped him kick-start his career when he introduced him to Bobi Wine’s Firebase Crew and linked him to Mickie Wine, which later led to the hit song Yanimba. He says he has since been helping connect ghetto youths to Kenzo’s Uganda National Musicians Federation in Mutundwe.
When asked whether he regrets leaving Bobi Wine’s Firebase Crew, Buchaman said it pains him that most of the people he once mentored are now doing much better than him. He pointed out Nubian Li, who is on the verge of becoming Mayor of Nakawa, and Mickie Wine, both of whom he said have progressed in life far beyond his current situation.
Buchaman openly stated that he now regrets joining NRM, saying the party is filled with selfish individuals who do not wish others well. According to him, “In NRM, we are not fought from outside, but from within. Everyone wants to enrich themselves instead of building the party.”
He also recalled organizing the Yellow Awards to promote President Museveni, after which the president had promised to reward each winner with a cow. However, the promise was never fulfilled after Justine Kasule Lumumba was replaced as Secretary General. Buchaman appealed to the current SG, Richard Todwong, to revisit his issues and give him an opportunity to work effectively.
This is not the first time the musician has voiced his disappointment. He has repeatedly said that joining the ruling party was one of the hardest decisions of his life. However, he insists he cannot return to Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) because he still has a binding contract with NRM that ends in May next year.
