RB Leipzig and Austria midfielder Christoph Baumgartner has been recognised with a Fair Play Diploma for his remarkable humanitarian efforts in Uganda.

Baumgartner, known for his energy and discipline on the pitch, has quietly built a legacy off it — dedicating time and resources to improve lives in rural Uganda.

Through his personal initiative, the 25-year-old footballer founded a vocational training and learning centre for young women in Kakule village. The centre equips women with practical skills such as tailoring, entrepreneurship, and basic education — helping them gain independence and better economic opportunities.

Baumgartner didn’t stop there. He also established the Baumi Junior School, which now provides early education for around 80 children aged between 4 and 9 years. The school offers a safe learning environment and access to quality education in a community where schooling opportunities are often limited.

In addition, Christoph Baumgartner launched a clean water campaign aimed at renovating 12 water wells in the region. The project has given more than 35,000 people access to clean running water, drastically reducing waterborne diseases and the daily burden of walking long distances in search of safe water.

The Austrian international has funded and overseen these projects personally, working closely with local partners to ensure long-term sustainability.

His efforts have now been officially recognised with a Fair Play Diploma, awarded for exceptional social responsibility and humanitarian work.

Baumgartner’s initiatives in Uganda reflect a rare commitment to using his football success to create tangible change — showing that sportsmanship extends far beyond the field.

He joins a growing list of footballers making meaningful contributions to global communities, reminding fans that compassion and leadership can shine just as brightly as talent and trophies.
