• According to Mike Kayihura, he signed the contract with the hope that it would elevate his music career. However, the agreement ended up being a major setback, effectively keeping him from releasing new songs for nearly three years.
  • Now free from the binding deal, Kayihura has promised his fans that he is returning with fresh music.

Rwandan musician Mike Kayihura has disclosed the primary reason for his lack of recent music releases. Recognized as one of the top RnB artists in Rwanda and across East Africa, he took to X to explain the difficulties he has faced in his career.

As per the Sabrina artist, he has been unable to release any new songs since he entered into a detrimental contract.

He mentioned that he believed this agreement would promote his music, but the reality was quite the opposite. Instead, it held him back for three years, and he also faced frustrations within the music industry.

However, he is now officially free from this contract and has assured his fans that new music will be coming soon.

The issue of signing unfavorable contracts appears to be a widespread problem among artists everywhere. Many of them often enter these agreements without fully understanding the terms and conditions and ultimately find themselves exploited.

Conversely, sometimes labels intentionally disregard the agreements and undermine the artists.

There have been numerous similar cases in Uganda, involving artists signed to Black Market Records, including Bruno K and Nina Roz.
