Ailing comedian Sammy Okanya, known as Sammy D’Mighty Family, has publicly criticized the financial support he received from Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, the leader of the National Unity Platform, to cover his medical expenses. It’s important to note that Sammy has been dealing with health issues for some time now.

Initially, he had a promising career in comedy as part of the duo D’Mighty Family, but it took a downturn when he mixed his career with politics.

As an avid supporter of the NUP and Bobi Wine, he began focusing more on politics than on comedy, which eventually led to trouble. He faced multiple arrests, spending significant time in detention.

This marked the beginning of his health challenges; he even sought asylum in Canada from Kenya, which did not succeed. The once-determined Sammy began asking for financial assistance to help himself, but the NUP, which he had consistently supported, ignored his pleas.

It was at this point that singer Bebe Cool stepped in to provide financial support for a surgical procedure, a gesture for which Sammy has expressed gratitude. Fortunately, the NUP eventually heard his cries for help and reached out to him. Bobi Wine provided him with 3 million shillings, but Sammy indicated that this amount was trivial compared to his needs.

During an appearance on Kasuku’s podcast, the once-prominent comedian shared that the money was hardly helpful since it only allowed him to change his medical tube before it was exhausted.

Honestly, that 3 million they gave me did nothing for me. It was hardly enough for my situation. That’s why I reached out to you, Kasuku, asking for 50k for fuel.

In response, Kasuku advised Sammy to commit to one political party, suggesting that one cannot support both God and the devil simultaneously, meaning Sammy should not seek help from both Bebe Cool (NRM) and Bobi Wine (NUP) at the same time.
