- Saudah Madaada defies NUP directive, gets nominated as an independent for Kampala Central Lord Councillor.
- Says her decision was fueled by voters who collected signatures for her, despite NUP endorsing Eve Kyazike.
- Reaffirms support for Bobi Wine and NUP leadership, though her move sparks internal party tension.
Chief NUP foot soldier, Saudah Madaada has decided to run as an independent for the position of Kampala Central Lord Councillor. This follows the National Unity Platform’s decision to give the party card for this position to Eve Kyazike.

Madada turned up at the offices of the Electoral Commission in Ntinda today morning to be nominated as an independent. She said that her decision has been catalyzed by requests from voters who even collected signatures on her behalf.
Although, she has gone against her party’s decree, Madaada reiterated her support for the party presidential flag bearer, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine.
“My decision to come as an independent has been fuelled by the voters who even collected signatures on my behalf. They told me that they don’t see anyone who can represent their views and want me as their representative. Despite this decision, I still have the utmost support for my party president, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, please vote him and vote SG David Lewis Rubongoya too,” said Madaada.

Her decision to run solo however has always raised eyebrows in the party’s circles. The party before nominations advised again running independent for all unvetted candidates.
Some have even gone ahead to call for her banishment from the party while others have said that she will undoubtedly feel the heat in the voting process.
Meanwhile many more dissatisfied candidates from the party are expected to take Madaada’s route since some have already expressed disappointment with how they have been sidelined.
