As the 2026 election season heats up in Fort Portal Tourism City, one name is on everyone’s lips: Karuyonga Ritah Adyeeri, affectionately known as Queen. From bustling markets to quiet villages, an undeniable wave of support is rising behind her candidacy for Woman MP, signaling that change is in the air.
Born in Kachwamba Village and educated through some of Uganda’s finest institutions—including Makerere University Business School (MUBS)—Karuyonga is no stranger to her people’s struggles and aspirations. Through her KARI Foundation, she has touched lives, especially among the elderly, long before launching her political bid.

But it is the massive ground support that is now capturing headlines.
“We need new leadership! Queen understands us young people,” says Joel Mugisa, a boda boda rider in Kisenyi. “She listens. She’s already creating programs for youth skills. We are ready to vote for her.”

“The current leaders have ignored us for years,” adds Mama Beatrice, a market vendor at Mpanga Market. “Karuyonga Ritah is the only one I see helping old women like us. She has my vote.”
In Kyakaijo and Buhinga, women’s groups have started mobilizing for her. “We want a leader who will fight gender-based violence and empower women,” says Sarah Kemigisha, a local women’s group leader. “Queen is that person.”
Meanwhile, many say her youth, beauty, and intelligence make her uniquely positioned to drive Fort Portal’s tourism and urban development agenda.

“She speaks about promoting our culture and tourism in ways no one else has,” says David Twinomugisha, a hotel operator. “That is the kind of fresh vision we need.”
As the campaign gains momentum, the contrast with the current leadership is stark. Many residents say they are tired of empty promises and want someone who is visible, approachable, and transparent.
With youthful energy, solid grassroots networks, and a clear vision, Karuyonga Ritah Adyeeri is emerging as the people’s choice—one that transcends age and background.
Come 2026, Fort Portal Tourism City may very well crown its Queen.
