Singer Aaronx has tearfully opened up about the making of his hit song Njalwala, which announced his breakthrough onto the music scene. Although the track sounds like a deep love-laced ballad to listeners, it carries a painful and personal meaning for him.

According to the singer, he composed the song while thinking about his mother, who was about to undergo surgery at the time. There was uncertainty over whether she would survive, and the thought of losing her — after all she had done for him — made him pour every emotion into the song.
Aaronx revealed that his mother had always stood by him through his troubled youth. She repeatedly got him out of jail when he hung out with gangs, and even when he was expelled or fined at school, she never gave up on him.
“Although the song might sound like it’s about love, to me it was about my mother, who was about to undergo a life-threatening operation,” he said tearfully. “The thought of losing her after all she had done for me broke me. She always paid my school fines, got me out of jail, and never gave up on me despite everything.”

The singer also confessed that he was once a petty thief while growing up. His stepfather used to leave kameeza (home upkeep) money at home, which Aaronx would steal to play video games at the popular spot “Ewa Stella.”
He recalled finding the likes of Grenade Official and DJ Michael’s son there. He admitted that even in school and the village, he was known for stealing — but thankfully, he changed his ways as he grew older.
