The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anitah Among, has urged the people of Bugiri District to rally behind President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming elections if they want to secure ministerial positions for their leaders.

While addressing a gathering in Bugiri, Among cited the Teso sub-region as an example of how collective political support translates into government representation.
“The ministers come from Teso — about five to ten of them. Why? Because Teso gave all the votes to Museveni,” she said, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
Among challenged the residents of Bugiri to emulate Teso by voting overwhelmingly for President Museveni, saying that doing so would increase their chances of having one of their own appointed to the cabinet.

“Are you ready to give President Museveni your vote so that we also get ministers here?” she asked. “We are giving President Museveni the vote so that Hon. Solomon Silwany becomes a minister.”
She cautioned locals against turning away from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), emphasizing that their unity behind Museveni would bring more development and recognition to the region.
Among also praised President Museveni for restoring peace and stability across the country, particularly in Northern Uganda.
“Before President Museveni came into power, there were IDPs in Northern Uganda. But now there is total peace and security. People are developing, getting money, and running their businesses,” she noted.
She further encouraged residents to take advantage of the prevailing peace to work hard and improve their household incomes.
“Now you can move freely, take your children to school, and do business without fear. Let’s protect that by supporting the NRM government,” she added.
The Speaker’s remarks come as senior NRM leaders continue to mobilize grassroots support for President Museveni ahead of the 2026 general elections. Museveni was campaigning in the West Nile districts of Oyam and Packwach yesterday.
