- Medard Lubega Ssegona, MP for Busiro East, has officially submitted his nomination forms to the National Unity Platform and shut down speculation about defecting.
- His declaration comes amid rumors of close ties with rival Mathias Mpuuga and ambitions to succeed Bobi Wine as NUP president.
Busiro East MP Hon Medard Lubega Ssegona has ridiculed anyone contemplating running against him or those who believe that the National Unity Platform will deny him the official nomination for the same parliamentary seat. Yesterday, Ssegona submitted his nomination forms to the National Unity Platform headquarters located in Makerere Kavule.

He seized this moment to praise himself while clearly addressing his rivals who intend to obstruct his path. He stated that for those suggesting he should step aside for others to take the lead, it isn’t wise to retire those engaged in the struggle.
Moreover, he believes he is the most qualified and appropriate candidate for the position, and anyone who thinks they are superior or that there exists a more qualified contender might either be under a voodoo spell or suffering from a mental issue.
“Just take a look at me; who is more skilled and better suited for this role than I am? Examine my CV, and you will come to realize I am the most qualified candidate among them. For anyone considering or intending to run against me, I feel sorry for you and would recommend that you reconsider. You must be mentally unstable or influenced by witchcraft to think you can take my place. Furthermore, how can you expect to retire individuals from the struggle who are still achieving results?” he questioned.
