• Azawi accuses older musicians of being “evil” and sabotaging others.
  • Netizens question her claims and the basis of her knowledge.
  • Other artists like Nince Henry and Red Banton have made similar allegations.

Swangz Avenue singer Priscilla Zawedde, popularly known as Azawi, has stirred controversy after boldly claiming that the music industry is filled with “evil people.”

Speaking about some members of the old generation of musicians, the Quinamino hitmaker stated that many of them do not wish others well and, in her view, behave like “thieves” who work against the success of younger artists. She went as far as describing them as “devils,” a comment that has triggered heated discussions online.

According to Azawi, many artists who have risen in recent years have survived only by the grace of God because the forces working against them are overwhelming.

Her comments have left netizens questioning how she can confidently speak about such practices, especially witchcraft, if she does not personally engage in them. Some social media users argued that “it takes one to know one,” a suggestion Azawi’s fans quickly dismissed as unfair and speculative.

However, she is not the first artist to raise concerns about the darker side of the industry. In recent years, musicians such as Nince Henry and Red Banton have also alleged that witchcraft and sabotage remain common behind the scenes, with jealous rivals supposedly using all means to undermine each other’s careers.

From Kadongo Kamu to dancehall to other music genres, witchcraft is a practice that has become renowned amongst musicians. Some even believe that’s a precursor for success.
